About Us

Team Eclectica - the literary committee of Techno Main Salt Lake, is a student-governed committee guided by an experienced group of faculty members, dedicated to building a healthy community receptive to works of literature. Throughout the year Team Eclectica organizes seminars, holds webinars, hosts competitions and grooms students through workshops.

The sole purpose behind its inception was to ensure that the spirit of artistry, spoken and written expression, debating, drama and quizzing is sustained in society in general and our members and followers in particular. To accomplish these goals, apart from contests and workshops, we also maintain an online presence through our official blog to encourage students to post their original content for the world to view.

Eclectica '23 kicked off with a quiz on the second day. The Kalbaishakhi downpour quickly changed the mood, but the participants were still excited. The quiz masters conducted the quiz smoothly, and there were x questions ranging from history to literature to culture. Everyone in the room was impressed by the quality of the questions and the participants' enthusiasm. The audience was even excited to answer. The event was a great success!

Eclectica '23's second day featured a thrilling Open General Quiz that enthralled the audience. With over 10 enthusiastic participants, the quiz spanned various categories and tested knowledge, quick thinking, and creativity. Under the Quiz Master's engaging guidance, contestants engaged in lively debates, showcasing excellent teamwork to tackle challenging questions. The competition delivered nail-biting moments and tough brainstorming rounds, keeping the audience intensely engaged and on the edge of their seats.

Eclectica presents the exciting "Five Feet Drop" event, a platform for participants to unleash their creativity through self-composed performances, spanning rap, shayari, stand-up comedy, and humor. This event's core mission is to infuse the atmosphere with electrifying entertainment, generating waves of joy and laughter that resonate with the enthusiastic audience, making it a memorable experience for all involved.

The Disputatio debate competition promoted lively debates among students from various universities, examining opposing viewpoints. The preliminary round presented hurdles, but the candidates pleased the judge with their variety and thought-provoking arguments. The finale heightened the atmosphere, with an eager crowd shouting on their favorites. The judges declared the prizes with delight and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the participants and organizers for an excellent evening.

At Eclectica, we believe that the most impactful stories arise from experiences beyond our reach. Our approach involves crafting masterpieces from given prompts. We encourage participants to set their imaginations free, allowing emotions to guide their quills. This unique fusion of prose narrated by the mind and verse sung by the heart gives birth to Prosimetrum, encapsulating the essence of storytelling that leaves a lasting impression.

Team Eclectica's literary prom night in Techno Main Salt Lake is a one-of-a-kind and enchanting event. The appeal of a classic prom night is combined with a literary edge. Attendees dress up as their favorite literary characters and conduct skits to immerse themselves in their roles. The evening goes beyond the ordinary, providing a fantastic fantasy experience complete with music, dance, and the friendship of fellow fiction aficionados who prefer the world of books to reality.

Team Eclectica celebrated India's rich heritage by organizing an online Mandala art competition. Mandala art, known for its symmetrical designs, has its roots in India. The event showcased the incredible creativity of participants, making it a tough challenge to select a winner. The diverse and unique designs demonstrated the depth of artistic talent among the participants, highlighting the beauty and significance of Mandala art in Indian culture.

Eclectica '23 showcased crossword puzzles, drawing in players, whether solo or in teams, to embark on engaging word journeys filled with clever clues and triumphant moments. The game's immense popularity has secured its permanent spot in Eclectica's future gatherings, enriching upcoming events with intellectual challenges and entertainment. This timeless addition has found a lasting home within Eclectica, promising continued enjoyment for years to come.

Eclectica's Rapsody concert gathered Kolkata's finest and most passionate rappers, igniting the atmosphere with boundless enthusiasm. The competition unfolded in two rigorous rounds: preliminaries and finals. Judge Cizzy faced the daunting task of selecting the top five finalists, each of whom brought a unique flair to the stage. A special performance by the judge and his team captivated the audience before the finals commenced. The electrifying finals left the crowd buzzing, reaffirming the revolutionary and powerful future of Indian hip-hop.

A single word has the extraordinary potential to build elaborate phrases, give birth to poems, and tell epigrammatic stories. "Bits N' Pieces" delivers a fascinating challenge of putting together fragments into complete narratives, daring users to channel their inner prose artists. Constraints, as liberated by meaningful storytelling, are at the center of this creative activity. It's a one-of-a-kind platform where words and emotions collide to create intriguing stories from disparate bits.

"Artistic Verses" was a new addition to Eclectica '23, aimed at blending the realms of poetry and art. This competition challenged participants to create emotionally resonant artwork inspired by poetry, quotes, or prose, seamlessly integrating their imagination with the chosen theme. The team at Eclectica was thrilled to receive visually stunning pieces that provided unique perspectives on the thematic essence of poetry, enriching the event with a creative fusion of artistic expression and written word.

The drama event that set the stage for some exceptional deliveries of content was Spotlight. Teams registered for the event to showcase their skills. The event was divided into two rounds. The prelim was to submit a small skit on the given topic. The final was an in-house event. The selected teams were notified by mail and were invited to the finals with their teams. Overall it was a great event with fantastic performances

Hasty Holmes, a homage to our good old love for the art of detection was also a part of Eclectica '23 and stood out magnanimously as lone wolves and lucky detectives with their own Watsons strived to find the culprit in the short story/passage provided to them in the two exhilarating rounds- Scotland Yard and The Reichenbach Falls. So put your detective hats on, and re-embark with Team Eclectica on a journey of mystery, riddles and gut wrenching suspense!

Eclectica '23 had a doodle event called Inkspiration. The participants were given a topic and instructed to doodle whatever came to mind. The event produced an amazing amount of wonderful doodles that express the participants' inner artists.

The event provided a venue for doodlers to demonstrate their abilities by doodling on the spot in pen and paper on a designated topic. It was a successful event with excellent submissions. There were additional awards for the winners.

Team Eclectica presents "Image-ination," an enthralling event that calls into question the age-old adage, "A picture is worth a thousand words." This competition explores the philosophical concept of imagination, which serves as a conduit for perceptions, feelings, and thoughts that inform us. Participants will go on an adventure as they adapt their ideas inspired by a single image into written words. "Image-ination" enables you to use your imagination to express the unsaid through the power of visual interpretation and narrative.

With Mercury moving backward through the sky, it's likely you've spent less time designing, and this lunation offers a chance to breakfree of the mundane daily horoscope . This cosmic climate brings you "The Space Company" a platform to illuminate the intricacies of visually striking and impactful graphic designs within the depths of your psyche. With a whopping number of registrations, Team Eclectica organised The Space Company as an online digital challenge with varied visual hierarchy to stimulate participants' creativity and ingenuity to design an original space themed product.

"Bohotttt Maaazaaaa Ayaaaaa !!!" , "That was incredible experience!" , "Darun Quiz Hoyeche!" was really on the lips of more than 500 students who participated in one the largest Quizzing event ever being held in Techno Mains. For first time Freshers' Quiz had a massive footfall of around 540 students from all departments of first years! The event was conducted by the Quiz Masters of Qzone and was hosted by Eclectica. The event was a huge success and was a great start to the year for the Freshers' of Techno Main Salt Lake.

The Chandrayaan Quiz was like a thrilling adventure through the cosmos. Picture this: participants, their eyes lit up with curiosity, eagerly exploring questions about India's lunar mission. The room buzzed with energy as correct answers were met with cheers, creating a friendly vibe. Under the quizmaster's guidance, everyone dived deep into the mission's details, their passion shining through. After a whirlwind of questions and discussions, the event wrapped up, leaving behind a sense of awe and excitement. Participants left with a newfound love for space, their minds brimming with the wonders of Chandrayaan. It wasn't just a quiz; it was a journey that transformed them into space enthusiasts.

Fall Frenzy Quiz was a quiz event conducted by Eclectica in collaboration with Qzone. The event was a huge success with a footfall of around 200 students. The event was conducted by the Quiz Masters of Qzone and was hosted by Eclectica. The event was a huge success in our college.
